Speaker Bio

Named by Hispanic Magazine as one of the top 60 Latina women in Government and Politics, Maria Teresa Petersen is the founding Executive Director of Voto Latino, a youth organization engaging the new generation of Americans in civic participation. Voto Latino launched the first-ever national texting campaign to register voters in 2006 and produced award-winning PSA campaigns reaching millions of American Latinos. Prior to Voto Latino, Petersen founded Petersen Advisory, whose clients included AT&T, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, and the National Latino Council on Alcohol and Tobacco Prevention. She appears as a regular political analyst on MSNBC's Hardball, NPR, CNN EspaÒol, and Fox News. She is a Public Policy International Affairs Fellow, a National Hispana Leadership Institute Fellow, and founding board member of the Latino Leaders Network.
