

Months before the economic crisis, the former director at Soros Fund Management talks about excessive risk and much needed reforms in the financial system and the tension between markets, taxpayers and basic values.
Rob Johnson, former managing director at Soros Fund Management and top portfolio manager for George Soros' private investment Quantum Fund, is an expert in global currency, bond, and equity portfolios that specialize in emerging markets. Johnson served as Chief Economist of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee under the leadership of Chairman William Proxmire and, before that, as Senior Economist of the U.S. Senate Budget Committee under the leadership of Chairman Pete Domenici. He is a member of the Development Advisory Board of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY and the former President of the National Scholastic Chess Foundation. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Economic Policy Institute and the Institute for America's Future, and last year he was an executive producer for Alex Gibney's Oscar-winning documentary Taxi to the Dark Side.
